What should fit in a KOI tattoo besides Lotus flower?

Just depends on what you want....koi/lotus is pretty traditional I think, that's what I go. Cherry blossoms? What does your artist think?

I think they're great too.
I think i'm going to put 1 Lotus and 1 Peonies on my under arm.
The next step would be a Tiger on my forearm.

Depends of the artist you go to. Artist with a traditional approach to the subject can be really specific what goes with what. And then someone else might mix everything together. Either way is fine as long as the artist is good.

i like his fineline work, and miniatures, but his Japanese work is definitely lacking. Also a good friend of mine mentioned he's very slow....

One thing i'm learning is there are tattoo artists who mimic Japanese style or just copy others work, and some who actually create and innovate within it. Rules or not don't matter, but you can see lots of "cookie cutter" work around. There's alot to be said for tradition, and innovation as well, the real magic is when the two collide to create something new i think.

Yup, u r right.
Gupta's Oriental is quite lacking but he's very highly detailed person...the smallest details, that's why it took longer than any other tattoo artists.

Btw, what is called of a mixture between Oriental and New School?
Is it New Oriental School? LOL....
