I thought it would be cool to collect some links to various talented tattoo artists throughout California. I'm always looking to discover them and thought this would be a good way to find some more. Post links to some of your California faves in this thread.

For example,
I like the work of Jill Bonny (aka Horiyuki) -- her snakes and backpieces are amazing.

Scott Sylvia (I like the boldness of color found in some of his really nice bigger tattoos)

I know a couple but the only one I can think of now is JoJo Ackerman from American Made Tattoo its in ROSAMOND, California. I like him for his japanese work. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPictu...

Everyone is partial to their own artist of course, so my favorite would be Jason Phillips at FTW Tattoo on Telegraph Ave in Oakland:

I was a big fan of several other Bay Area artists but they've all moved away.

Jason is definitely talented. On the topic of one's own artist and those who aren't in California anymore, I'm definitely a fan of Jamie Ruth, but she's now tattooing in England. She does, however, come back to California from time to time (so I'm booked to have her to finish up my arm in December). http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewAlbum...

Maybe a tip for the Northern Californians. My present favourite artist comes to the San Jose convention. It's Inma Alted from Evil From The Needle in London. She is doing my throat and neck project. Get it while you can!

I checked her out; she's good (must be good to get in as a guest tattooer with Henning Jorgensen at Royal).

Yeah, he's good; read somewhere that he was leaving Tattoo City to open his own shop.

that'd be cool, i think Tattoo City is really different now (than 10+ yrs. ago)... but then again i haven't gotten out much. working on getting to the s.j. convention.

I also like some of the work at http://www.seventhsontattoo.com/index.htm but don't know much about the artists (did I mention I haven't gotten out, or on-line, much lately)!?

Yeah the scene-y toile reminds me a bit of my nonna's bedspread or something haha Will definitely chat with my artist about some shadows and see what she can come up with :) The pain isn't something I'm relishing, but it'll just be three hours out…
