This gets us back to the question, "What is heavily tattooed ?" Like you, I don't consider myself heavily tattooed yet but my artist insists that I've crossed the "line". (Leg sleeve and 3/4 arm sleeve plus some misc. pieces). I surmise that you would also be considered heavily inked by the "pigmentally challenged".

But back to the original question, I keep covered at work just to avoid the office B.S. Almost all my family knows and they've made their feelings (pro and con) known but have accepted it.

My in-laws are still in the dark but only because I want to spare my wife. They will never say anything directly to me but WILL give my wife ALL kinds of grief.

As for friends, I must admit that I discriminate. People in plain wrappers creep me out.

i know the feeling of being the only mom covered in tats. and i love it and chances are that all the kids that my daughter goes to school with out here will end up in my shop in their future. its a strong tribal tattoo culture here. and its more men then women covered, but there are more women tattoo artist to make up for it:)

Me too. I'm completely spoiled; I have a great many heavily and visibly tattooed colleagues, and although I'm currently the most heavily/visible tattooed woman there it really has been a non-issue so far. The only comments from my coworkers and supervisors have been positive.

I imagine that if, in a couple of years, my career-change plans happen as hoped, I'll be in for a rude awakening. Heh.

I consider myself heavily tattooed at the age of 18 i have a full back piece a left thight piece and im starting my right thigh in a month or 2. You can can decide for me. Well I work in a news station so I have to cover myself at all times but some how my supervisor saw my tattoo on my myspace page. A couple days later half the building knew i had a backpiece and co workers were asking me to show them and then question me like why would i do something like that, how much did it cost and my favorite did it hurt? Na it tick. It was little weird but it didnt really bother me.

Your welcome. I just think its funny how ignorant people are sometimes but hey thats life.

that's really interesting. It seems wrong but at the same time it's kinda like a reference. The problem is that I doubt most people ever intend for the myspace them to be going on a job interview. definitely a good reminder

Which is one reason I've taken some of the more identifiable facts of of my page here.

Mm-hmm. My rule of thumb is that I don't post anything online that I wouldn't want my employers/potential employers/professors and advisors/other folks who could have a major impact on my education and career to see. You can't be embarrassed by naked pictures or evidence of debauchery that don't exist, you know?

Yeah the scene-y toile reminds me a bit of my nonna's bedspread or something haha Will definitely chat with my artist about some shadows and see what she can come up with :) The pain isn't something I'm relishing, but it'll just be three hours out…
