What are some parts of the body not recommeded for tattoing?

Arms would be a great place to start, I think, unless you already know you want to go big. Of course with my first two, I did not start at the easy spots. I started with my right thigh down to my kneecap and my second was a full chestpiece. It might be best to start with subject matter before deciding where to place it. My wife went in for a first visit at a tattoo shop wanting to get a turtle on her upper back but was also interested in phoenixes. One of the apprentices there pointed out that turtles are terrestrial and sea creatures and that it might look strange to have a turtle on the upper torso with a phoenix beneath it. It was very helpful advice and she ended up with a nice Phoenix backpiece, which was much larger than she had planned, but also more beautiful and meaningful.

Moral of the story, consult with some artists to get their take on whatever idea you come up with.

I understand that the soles of the feet and to some extent the palms of the hands are bad spots. There is too much daily wear-and-tear to keep the tattoo looking fresh.

go for what you want where you want it. definitely consult with your chosen tattooer but since you have no tattoos you have no real point of reference for the pain.

Arms and legs are the usual spot people get tattoos. The back isnt that bad just sucks on the boney spots. I hear the inner arm around the arm pit area is a bit painful same for the inner thighs.

Some parts simply won't hold the ink properly. Inner fingers, foot soles, hand palms, inner lips.
