What's your opinion on getting a tattoo for your partner?
Like matching tattoos or one for them especially, like something tattooed for them.

I have my mister's lips on my shoulder and he has mine on his hand, I just got some text around his-soul friend in gaelic (anam cara) and so that i love and cherish in latin (ut amem et foveam). he's been the one to teach me over the years what a relationship should be and what a friendship should be. over the years he's been in and out of my life, but now we're sitting here making wedding plans. even if things fall through, I still think of him as one of my best friends and teachers and would have gotten this ink even if we weren't together. he's just one of those people you meet in life that stands out above them all.....

I am a believer in "the curse". I had a close friend who had an angel done to match his wife's tattoo. Shortly after the tattoo, and 15 years of marriage, they broke up.
When it comes my spouse, I choose to remember milestones rather than him personally. I have a tattoo to remember our 10th anniversary, but I have another tattoo in honour of my sons. Spouses may leave but kids never will!

It's a bit of a spin off from the original topic, but close enough in the ball park. The "boytoy" (aka: Al, my boyfriend) and I have been throwing around the idea of actually tying the knot. He has a son (X) who is 15 months now, and I've been raising this kid since he was 3 months (his mom killed herself, it's a whole mess). I realize a year isn't a long time, but this kid is mine in almost all ways but biologically. We've been discussing the future, and I said after we get married, things settle down I'd like to legally adopt X; esp. if we have more kids. The more I think about it, the more I know I would get a tattoo of X or for X. I don't know if the curse applies, but I think emotional ties and bonds are a bit stronger.

I would say it's not near as bad as getting shot or stabbed though I don't know for sure. I guess if you expect the worst you'll be pleasantly surprised.
