Started at 14 doing "home made" tattoos with Indian ink and a compass in art classes at school. (yes i know it was wrong now) My step father told me i would be having skin grafts at 16 to remove them, ha ha that's when it really kicked off, at 16 i went "off the rails" a bit ;-) and started to get some pro work (flash being the only thing available and affordable) all of which has now been covered (too many rash decisions) Had a break as finances were tight bringing up my family. All my custom work has been done in the last 5 years so i think i'm what you could call a "born again" tattoo addict ;-) as you can see at the ripe age of 44 and 3/4 i'm having a back piece which i have wanted for years & years.

Me too - next Friday. My hiatus will start after this piece is finished (due to lack of cash flow).

I'm getting back in the chair soon after a long hiatus. My bear needs something--a tree, a jar of honey, a salmon, toilet paper--I don't know. We'll work it out when I get there!

I was on the once-a-year plan for awhile but it's morphed into twice-a-year and counting... it doesn't help when I make January appointments!

I started with a tattoo for my 31st birthday. I'm turning 49 in a week and have been under the needle about 15 or so times since then. I'm currently drawing up little picture choices to cover up that first tattoo. It's ended up to be rather unattractive and doesn't go with the new surrounding work. Lucky for me, one of my good friends has become a tattooist and does all my work for me.

I started my tattoo journey last year at the gae of 41, I now have a 3/4 sleeve almost finished (right arm 2008) and going back to finish my left arm which is tattoed to the elbow (outside only) and the chest. I will be getting my right side chest done this year then working on my back...someone should have told me it was so addictive. Luckily I have no other tattos as I took 20 years to decide what I wanted. My tattoist thinks he is in heaven as according to him, "virgin skin" is rare, and then people tend to flit around to different artists.

I started getting tattooed at the age of 39. My second tattoo was just a couple of weeks before my 40th birthday, and got two more after. I have plans for two 1/2 sleeves, another piece on my thigh, and I'm also considering a back piece. I'm extremely glad I waited until I was older and understood how important it was to find a good artist, and the imporance of knowing what makes for a clean, safe shop. It's also nice to put a stop to the ridiculous argument of "What are they going to look like when you're 50?" My answer is "Pretty damn good, it's only 10 years away."

I'm 40 (something) and even thought I got my 1st tiny tattoo @ 31, I have added 3 more within 6 month of each other in my mid 40's. I don't care to be conservative, but I do live in Dallas TX

Hey there, the transition group after Jessica's 30-Somethings! I started in my mid-30s but didn't really get going 'til my 40s (48 now). I'm glad I waited, especially given how impulsive I was in my "youth".
