Partners of the non-tattooed

Dave's wife's group inspired me. Those of us working towards being heavily-tattooed who have partners who are not tattooed, and aren't planning on it. So help me!

I can't really say my wife has NO ink, since we both got matching small tattoos before we were married (30 years ago), but hers is almost gone from laser hair removal. She got a butterfly on her hip a few years later at my behest, but has absolutely no desire for more ink, even after I started in earnest in my 40s. She tolerates my passion, but I doubt she'll ever get any more ink.

My old man just rolls his eyes when I talk of new tattoos. People who know me can't believe that he's a blank canvas.

My partner is really disinterested in tattoos, which is odd because I always thought they were the adventurous one, but I am very keen to get more work done. Cue big discussion over weekend that seemed to revolve around other people's perceptions of me. Didn't realise that mattered. I'm most likely going to get the work done, but said I would wait a year to prove it wasn't just a snap decision. Partner likes the one I have now, though a little stunned by its size, and I reckon a fancy piece of custom will be fine once seen. I think it's mainly that old perception of "Lydia the Tattooed Lady" rearing its ugly head.

My bf really isn't into taking about body modification... He did, once, say that he had always wanted to get "darK' angel like wings on his back, but when I mentioned he has a low tolerance for pain (and i mean a super-low tolerance!), he said that I was probably right and probably wouldn't ever go through with it. His sister has tattoos, so I think he doesnt mind mine so much... or my piercings... though I wonder what he'll say if we're still together in a few years...ha ha

My wife, who was with me before I started getting inked, still does not have any work done. She loves my tattoos, and encourages me to get as many as I want. She considers it herself from time to time, but is never quite sure what she wants. She understands that it should be personal, it should mean something to her, and that it should be unique.

That said, she has zero tolerance for pain. I have tried to describe to her what getting tattooed is like, and I am pretty sure she would die on the spot. So I may end up being the only inked one in our family.

My husband is retired Navy (20+ years) and he has NO tattoos and doesn't plan on getting any! He doesn't understand the NEED for me to have them and he doesn't like them at all. But WTF is he gonna divorce me over it? NOPE he's not. My son USAF has them and so does my daughter, we just tell him he's the odd man out. I personally am of the opinion that it's my body, MY art (NO FLASH) and my canvas.

I figure my husband's expensive suits might not fit him in 10 years, and at least mine will change/grow/shrink with me!

My wife has no tattoos, and to tell the truth I like it like that.

Although I think tattoo's on women are beautiful, I like the fact that tattoo's in our relationship are "my thing".

The downside is she doesn't understand the money I (really we because we are married ) put out for them. Whenever I tell her I have another appoitment I get:

"What would you say if I had a $200 a month habit? "

Oi Vey!
