Sounds like my yard!
Our pool is sunk in the ground about 2 feet, in that two feet they pulled out rocks longer than my leg. We also found a lot of arrowheads, a smaller, and then a larger mortar and pestle, and a rock hewn on one side for tanning hides. We wanted to go down 3 feet but there's a shelf rock that goes from the pool area under our patio and house at 2 1/2 feet. They said we could get out the dynamite but we said "NO THANKS!" for 6" it's not worth it.

started to put up the fence, but I hit rock. Wonderful Texas ground! I got a few posts in, but I can't get through most parts - solid rock.

I tried an auger with a rock tip, a commercial jackhammer (and those will wear you out) - but I only got 2 holes in 5 hours!

But I got some of the fence up.

Well, my fence has arrived. Now all I have to do it build it! I saved over 4 grand in building it myself! My only fear is if I hit rock while digging the fence posts. Wonderful hill country ground!

Potato Vine is good too (solanum, maybe it's related to jasmine) grows super fast, blooms at least 2x year and evergreen. Too good for us, we had to take it out b/c our deck was too small for it and the rats were also probably having too good a time in it.

Very cool! We have chain link fence up and are looking to add some green to cover spots. Our neighbors however, were quite happy when we cleared the land. It was like they all finally could see the sun! LOL Our "dark hole" of tress and brush suffocated everyone around. Not that we didn't enjoy the privacy, but we needed to clear it and do it right.

This year I am getting a DR brush mower to start mowing down all the weeds that have grown back, and to put seed down to encourage the grass to spread more. It is coming in, but slowly. Before long my yard will have that "park" look. Lots of green grass and big trees.

Then we will do a bit more fancy landscaping. :)

Like what you did there, I have been thinking of doing some Ivy around areas of the fence. It growns fast, it isn't close to the house, and it is easy to take care of.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a successful yard project I thought I'd share. Our neighbor behind us has a chain link fence. Ugly. And since I've moved to that house, I've been trying to figure out what I could do to cover it on my side to add privacy and make it look better.

I thought about bamboo, but it would fade and disintegrate over 2 Texas summers. Plus, 200 feet of bamboo would be pricey, and not worth the investment. So I decided to go green and add some Jasmine.

To start, I cleaned out Lowe's selection and brought home 9 plants. They're evergreen, so it would even look good in our cold, cold winters (that was for you Bill! It sometimes gets 30 degrees here!)

So I made a planter bed, 6'x100', and planted the jasmine and surrounded the bed with stone from our lot next door (and yes, I moved each rock by hand, and I am sore today!)

Still not done - I plan on taking it another 50 feet or so, once I get some more jasmine.

Wow.... I'll wish it was cold when we hit our 30+ days of 100 degree heat. Happens almost every summer, where the days over 100 keep adding up.

I'm excited at my new arrival - I just got a great deal on more grass! 2 more pallets arrived last night. Of course, that means I have to lay them down!

Got one done before dark and the other will be today when I get off work. Got a great deal on them... but it will require a lot of TLC to get them healthy.
