Profile Information

Please describe your bodyart:
A Sweet Pea plant that runs up the side and back of my right calf, with two birds - one flying in from the back to feed the one on the side. By Dave Warshaw @ Avalon Tattoo II in San Diego, Ca. I've started my second tattoo: Liquidambar branches in autumn colors with 5 Black-Capped Chickadees, to complement my existing tattoo on my other leg. By Marie Wadman of Diving Swallow Tattoo in Oakland, Ca. I also have my ears gauged to 9/16"
Relationship Status:
Single
About Me:
I'm a native Californian who's moved around most of my life. I lived in Japan for 3 years. I find scientific blood/guts, and body modification intriguing. I'd much rather be in the middle of nowhere than in the middle of a city. The goal is a lack of ambient light. I'm very much scatter-brained, a bit eclectic, and rarely confrontational.
Describe your profession:
I'm currently a fourth year undergraduate Animal Science major at the UC Davis, specializing in Equine Science.

Balancing Out

Saturday was really great. Woke up at 6:20am to get ready and catch my train at 7:55am. Needless to say, I had no trouble hopping out of bed. My ranting and scatter-brainedness (yes, I said that) from the night before were still in full swing. Except this time, instead of talking to my friend Tim, I talked to myself. Either out loud or in my head, but the point is that my brain was still in rampant-runaway-train mode. I didn't really feel the nerves until we were about 15 minutes from Oakland. I… Continue

Impending Ink

I've had a hell of a time falling asleep lately. Mostly, I think, because at the end of this week I have my first session with Marie Wadman to begin my newest tattoo. SO excited. I went out today and bought a pair of sweatpants, spurred by the conflicting nature of going to school while needing to keep the tattoo out of the sun, and not being able to wear actual pants like jeans. You know that feeling, like sandpaper on a sunburn. Not to mention that it's not a great way to encourage a wound to… Continue

Balancing Act

Minus the pounding headache and sleep depravation, Friday was great. My meeting with Marie went really well. The shop looks great, very open, and with lots of neat paintings on the walls. The actual tattooing area is upstairs, but you can look down over the main entrance area, kind of like a balcony. Marie was very detailed and neat. She made a tracing of my leg so her work on the left will line up with what I have on the right (even though I brought her a copy of the original drawing Dave did).… Continue

Thank You Sir, May I Have Another?

So that 'scare' about the Army's tattoo regulations really put me in an off mood. I didn't even go to the barn to drive today, and when I saw Sophia in a class later in the day, I kind of snapped on her when she said that Alta was lame, and basically said that it was my and Niki's fault for taking her out on the open road in single cart yesterday... Then I talked to a recruiter today (via the phone). The first thing I said to him (after corgial introduction, of course), was, "Before I ask anythi… Continue

Thanks! I would say that I can't wait to see it done either, but I need some time to forget the painful sternum area.

Thanks. My wife is looking at several birds trying to decide what she wants to do next. The colors made me think of the eastern bluebird.

Go to Shibuya. You have your choice of either Sunsqlit or Rin KG. I go to Rin KG. They are both about a mile from the train station.
