I used pain killers for a couple sessions on my back peice. I mean if something helps you relax and sit still why not its better for you and the artist in my opinion.

Each to their own for me. Whatever works for you, I'm not gonna call it either way. Personally I haven't had any pain killers during my tattoos, but not had any really gnarly areas done i.e. back ribs. My tattooist is great and will talk me throu...

I see this topic is alive and well! My whole concern is I'll be travelling far to get my ribs done. It looks like anything between 3-5 sessions on both rib panels in 2 weeks. Probably won't get them finished which isn't a concern, but just want to...

i don't like the pain but it is sort of a badge of honor to get through it without any "help". i've done little 45 minute sessions up to an 8.5 hour one (including elbow & ditch) and i take pride that somehow i've always managed through it. i've a...

you gotta earn it, but the long sittings can get sketchy towards the end or in a sensitive area. I just try not to drink the night before, eat healthy and be rested before a session...

Its all a part of the process... embrace the pain lol I have yet to find it that bad to consider pain killers. Next session on the ditch might take me there tho!!

Tylenol is fine but Advil is not. Advil is ibuprofen, and can thin your blood like Motrin or Asprin. Tylenol is acetaminophen, and does not thin blood like the others. I have taken Tylenol before having a session but that was because I had a heada...

hmmm ... i don't see anything wrong with a tylenol or advil or two before a session. i think that's a totally different thing than taking vicodin or oxycotin. i usually medicate AFTER the tattoo. i did have someone tell me they like to take valium...

Happy new year! I'm on track for Jill extending my (right) sleeve next year, if our funds build back up. Will she be sketching your piece out soon?

And, did you end up doing your forearms?

Thanks for the comments!
Yeah, its new. I finished my leg in December and started this one yesterday. I thought the leg would be finished earlier when I booked with Sean. After I get done with this, I will be done for a while, lol.

It was the product of contacting a few different artists about a few of my wacky ideas not knowing who would bite. I guess they like wacky :-).

Hey there. Finally got in to the shop and Jill's going to finish my right sleeve (the one w/the yellow peony) with lotuses! She convinced me to integrate the seasons on my back with some falling leaves and blossoms (I'll go to Karen for that), and keep the open space.

I'm on the "short list" once there's a cancellation.

It will be another month or so until it is finished. I can't get a good photo of the whole wrap. The artist will have some good photos of it when it is ll done.

Yes - that's how I started my tattoo journey years ago, and have ended up back there. This was from a Japanese painting actually. I never go on myspace... At the Matcha thing I saw a full back-piece by Jill (on a woman) - wow.

I just realized you said forearms, so that is definitely tough. I stopped hiding my wrist tattoos since they're small, but I'd also want to hide larger coverage. I suppose if you're teaching high school math the students would think it's 'cool'... but distracting.

I'm trying to get my ideas together for her, and realize I'm still all over the board. I want to get this right... No, it'd be another half-sleeve; I just can't do the full sleeve yet even though I REALLY want to. Covering my half-sleeve isn't my favorite thing to do, but it's manageable.

Here's my new right shoulder:

Hey there! Finally met Jill and next step is to go into the shop so she can look at my back. Hopefully she'll be okay about using the blank spot. If not, then my other sleeve.

Not a dumb question at all! A friend of mine was astonished at the size of the tattoo. He thought it was very small after I emailed him the first pics.

It starts at the knee and covers the whole front panel of my thigh. The sunset and top of the central figure are near the hip. I am blacking out all but the tattoo for everyone's sake.

Thanks for the comment! You must really be into legs :-). We have about two more sessions to go. In the next one, he'll be finishing the central figure and adding color to the fully formed figure. In the last one, all that will be left will be background (though that may take a while).
