More from the 'freight train'

I just came from my neurosurgeon's office, and he is saying that my facial nerve is growing back all on it's own. I can close my right eye about halfway, and even smile a little on the right side too. No surgery! It was supposed to be next week, but now it's off for good! Now just my eye surgery, then ear surgery (december), then in about a year full recovery ('cept I'm still deaf on the right). rock on! kip Continue

Hit by train, 3 months later...

It's been three months since I got whacked in the noodle by a 2.2 million-pound freight train (I talked to the conductor). All my bones have healed; the skull fracture, facial fracture, broken ribs, & transverse bones from the spine. My facial cut has healed up, as have the cuts to my ear-the ear cartilage was severed in two spots, and the ear just moves around the side of my head every day. The tattoo gods were looking over me! When I got hit I flew about 23+ feet through the air, hit a tr… Continue

IT's been almost six weeks since I was hit by a freight train. MY broken face is healing and so is my back; very slowly. Today I learned that I will never have hearing in my right ear again-I'm deaf on the right. That sucks but it has made me think that the frustration and rage I'm feeling should turn into some new ink. I've decided to get a Red & Black Canadian Pacific Railway locomotive done on my back (and a bit lower too). It's going to be centered coming "out" of my back surrounded by… Continue

"man with tape recorder hit by train"

THere I was, gathering sound FX for a friends' movie. I recorded a train go by me on the tracks, then turned my back on it an hit "play" on my newly made Train tape. That's what disguised the sound of the other train comining in where the other had left. It hit me in the right ear and I just came from hospital yesterday. Spent 6 days in the hospital; only 2 that I can remember because I only came to 2 days ago. I came to inside a CT machine at the hospital undergoing a CAT scan, My hands were… Continue

The good, the bad, and the prideful

Shit. you'd think I'd be a lot happier with the news that I'm getting better; the cancer isn't as cancerous and my life is on the upswing. However it's not that simple for me. All my plans for 18 months have revolved around me being dead. I have waited and waited and postponed applying for disability for this reason. Now that I'm getting better I'd rather work anyway, but up here (and everywhere else) there is a growing depression. No help wanted signs, no jobs anywhere; only layoffs and hiring… Continue

Mind over Matter

I have recently discovered a group of Japanese men who dedicate their lives to overcoming male-pattern baldness. They claim to do this by focussing all their concentration on the hair folicles. This procedure can take up to 20 YEARS or more, but if they are dedicated it works. Recently my "terminal" brain tumor has shrunk, something it's not supposed to be capable of. After the diagnosis I was destroyed; I fell into a deep hole that I couldn't climb out of (at least at the time). Soon after, th… Continue

License to ink

I find tattoos to be a very unusual art form; more diverse than the individual works are the people that collect them. I often hear "wow, they should hand out licenses for having babies"(I'm originally from way, way up north here in Canada)...well should the same be true for getting tattoos? We are very different people in this world, radically different than eachother and personally, and I can really appreciate that. However if you ask me my opinion of your new tattoo (eg. a beaver with a hock… Continue

Got to be careful (at least in the US). Many Fortune 500 employers have added both a strip search and a cavity search to the last segment of the hiring process. A tattoo could spell the end to your future career.
