It seems one of the hospitals in the area (not mine) is now banning visible tattoos. So I said, "I doubt my patients will be looking at my ankle, unless they're passed out on the floor" So I showed her my ankle, and everyone else in the room (they all know) said "Show her your back"
Well.....she yelled, I was expecting it so I wasn't surprised.
Now, just mom and dad to go. My sister knows I have them, just not how much I have.

My ankle is done.
WOOHOO!
I did have to make some compromises, the original font I chose wouldn't hold up. The color I wanted wouldn't either
so I ended up with a black ankle bracelet in one of the 5 fonts that I originally looked at, so that's not so bad. My ultimate goal was legibility and durability so I think I got what I asked for. (I asked for something that would be legible when I'm 80 and have cankles)
The actual tattooing didn't hurt any more than the other places that he's done. Get…

I'm getting my ankle bracelet done in 12 days (the one I've been planning since July or so). I'm excited but also a little scared. I have NO fat on my ankle at all, guess I'll feel what it's like to tattoo on bone. Hopefully I won't swell up too much, my daughters birthday party (parents and ultra-conservative religious sister attending) is 3 days later.
My trainer says I can blame it on her if I'm limping around.
More good news. I've been working with a trainer since end of Oct. and so far hav…

We're about 150 miles to the side of Houston so we won't be getting the most of it. They say Galveston is already underwater. Kinda sad. I remember sitting on the seawall when I was a kid. My dad still has a photo. Pray for my husbands friends north of Houston. They told most of the people in high areas of Houston not to evacuate. My husband tried to talk them into coming up to stay with us but they're staying there.
I won't be on for a couple days.
My kids are going to my sisters and hubby (the…

I finally have my back finished!
And it only took (almost) 2 years. I'm home now, washed, lotioned up and basking in the afterglow. Photos coming asap. :)

Just chilling tonight with the olympics, developing an appreciation for mens beach volleyball. I'm for the USA of course but those Brazilians are pretty hot! Anyway, I look over at my calendar....only six days till my appointment!
WOOHOO!!!! I'm shocked five weeks has gone this fast. Thankfully it's back to school time, no time to think, just run from one place to the next.

Woohoo!
Can't believe I've made it this far. Thankfully I've got tons of "getting ready for school" stuff to do next week and the week after, that'll keep my mind busy till my appointment.
I'm already planning my next piece, a scripture anklet to celebrate my anniversary (thanks to Dave G for the scriptrue help!). A big step for me, it'll be visible probably 9 months out of the year. Don't know what my mom will say....guess she'll have to get over it.

I don't know how I'm going to wait 5 weeks though. It'll be so good to finally have my back finished. I decided on a pipevine swallowtail for my 9th butterfly and he's going to draw on my second branch by hand. I already have my lotion and a new bottle of soap..... guess I'll have to keep working those extra shifts to help time pass faster (and give me extra money to pay for it).
I'm so excited!!

Okay, so far this week hasn't been real good
My father-in-law died suddenly and unexpectedly the day before a family reunion that had been scheduled for Memorial Day at their house. So, as we were all gathering to sit around and be sad I see my sister-in-law that I haven't seen in probably 8 yrs, (she's married to hubbys older brother). As we're hugging I notice 6 cute little butterflies on her neck and down on to her shoulder. They were new, a gift from her kids for Mothers Day.
Suddenly there…

Yes, I want to get my back finished but it looks like that money's going to get spent on dental work......oh joy!
I don't know about you but I'd rather be tattooed for 3 hours than get my teeth worked on.

So as of now I have 13 hours in on my backpiece with probably 2 hours to go to finish it. I've been thinking about
what do do after that. Probably something on my ankle or calf. Here in Texas that means it'll be visible for 9 mo out of the year.
I kind of like having "secret" tattoos. I always meant for my tattoos to be mostly for me (and hubby), I don't know what to expect if I get something visible. I know, the world won't end, people probably won't even notice. My sister might freak, along wi…

No, it's not a new show......
I'm finally finishing my back piece next month! I'm attending our local convention on Friday the 4th. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get an appt with my artist during the convention but I got one for Jan 8th. I'm getting my tiger swallowtail and the green banded peacock (google this one, it's a gorgeous butterfly) on the right side of my back and shoulder blade. I don't if we'll try to extend my branch up there, it might look contrived, I'm open to it if he can mak…

I'm excited!
I put up some photos of my birthday present....the left side of my tattoo.
The branch was totally drawn by hand, the cocoons also. I can't wait to see what he'll do with the color. I was
amazed at how wonderful the first part looked after the color was done. There is one more butterfly planned on my upper back, probably some time in January. Perhaps at my 1st tattoo convention.
I'll post final photos when this part heals.

Ah, the stages of tattoo healing.......
I got 2 hrs of work done last friday the 5th. Then, the 1st stage of healing, (raised, lobster pink and weepy)
happened while I'm at work (12 hr shifts) Saturday and Sunday. Now I'm in the lovely itchy-peely phase. I'm trying my best not to itch, it sure is hard sometimes. Thankfully it should be done soon, it usually takes me about a week and a half to heal a tattoo. I go back for color Oct 30th, it's going to be stunning, I can't wait. It's already grea…

Well, this is new, this is actually the first time I've ever blogged in my life. Should I start out with "Dear Diary"??
So, my 45th birthday is 3 weeks from today. I always seem to get in a reflective mood around my birthday.
Especially this year with my oldest in high school. Kinda freaky, I don't know where I thought she'd go, I just never thought I'd be the mother of a high schooler. My other daughter is in 5th grade, into middle school next year. More freedom.....I won't have to get up so…
